LECTURER/SENIOR LECTURER IN SOFT TISSUE SURGERY GRADE 8/9

£39,324 - £63,009 pa (plus market rate supplement for ECVS/ACVS/RCVS diploma holders)
(plus attractive CPD, OOH and pension package)

This clinical, teaching and scholarship/research post will be based in the Small Animal Teaching Hospital at Leahurst on the Wirral Peninsula. The campus is in a pleasant, rural location with good transport links allowing easy access to Liverpool, Manchester, Wales, the Peak District, the Lake District, the rest of the UK and beyond. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a dynamic clinical team with state-of-the-art facilities including:

  • 1.5T MRI and 84-slice CT scanner.
  • Fluoroscopy with digital subtraction for minimally-invasive procedures.
  • spacious operating theatres, one of which Is equipped for laparoscopy / thoracoscopy, plus separate flexible endoscopy and minor procedures rooms.
  • Dedicated ICU.

The hospital has a diverse caseload, with an especially large surgical oncology component: our Oncology service is one of the largest in the UK, with on-site linear accelerator for radiotherapy. There is excellent multi-disciplinary support and the soft tissue surgery service works closely with diplomates in oncology, internal medicine, cardiology, orthopaedics and diagnostic imaging.  The service participates in the training of three ECVS residents and is supported by a service intern and two dedicated service nurses. The hospital has close links to the rest of the Faculty and there are plentiful opportunities for collaborative research.
You will be MRCVS and will be ECVS, RCVS or ACVS board-certified, or eligible. You should have sufficient relevant experience in referral level soft tissue surgery and clinical service provision to act as the senior surgeon when required. This post is available from 1 August 2017.
