AVSTS introduces "The Helping Hand Award" in memory of Tony Sarma

in memory and celebration of the soft tissue surgeon Tony Sarma (1977-2012)


Tony was a truly inspirational character, a dedicated vet and a loyal, enthusiastic member of AVSTS. He had a drive to further his knowledge and share ideas. AVSTS would like to honour the memory of Tony by giving two people the opportunity to attend the AVSTS meetings free of charge. 

Are you eligible?


·       Spring (April) BSAVA Satellite day meeting: Applicable to a veterinary student. The AVSTS will pay the registration fee. 

·       Autumn (October) 2 day meeting : Applicable to a veterinary surgeon in practice who is an AVSTS member and has not embarked upon or completed a surgical residency. The AVSTS will cover the cost of the meeting, Friday night accomodation and entertainment and we will even pay £100 for your travel expenses. 

How to apply

Simply email your name, contact details coupled with a short description of your current circumstances, briefly outlining why you feel deserving of the Helping Hand Award.


How will you know if you have qualified for the award?

AVSTS will let all applicants know if they are amongst the two chosen recipients of the Helping Hand Award 6 weeks prior to the respective meeting.
